Pallet Wrappers

Pallet wrappers are devices that allow you to package pallets and prepare them safely for shipping or storage. They consist of a rotating platform that spins the pallet, allowing the stretch film to wrap it evenly and securely.

Why choose a pallet wrapper?

These machines can wrap up to 30 pallets per hour, greatly simplifying packaging operations. Compared to manual wrapping, they use on average 40% less film, resulting in significant cost savings and a safer, more professional packaging.

How to choose the most suitable pallet wrapper

The choice of a pallet wrapper depends on some key factors:

  • ROTATING PLATFORM SIZE: Consider the size of the loads to be wrapped.
Platform diameters are 1500, 1800, and 2000 mm.
Models with a 1500 mm platform can wrap pallets up to 1000×1200 mm.
Larger platforms allow handling of non-standard or bulky loads.
  • COLUMN HEIGHT: Chosen based on the maximum height of the pallets to be wrapped.
  • LOAD CAPACITY: The standard load capacity of pallet wrappers is 2000 kg, with the option to reach 3000 kg with dedicated upgrades.
  • TYPE OF LOAD AND USAGE:
Depending on the type of load and intended use, it is possible to choose the most suitable wrapper to meet your needs, optimizing work time and making packaging operations simpler, safer, and more efficient.

Wrappers with recess

Wrappers with a recess for pallet trucks make it easier to position the pallet from below, without the need for ramps.

Models without a recess are more suitable if forklifts are used.

Wrappers with integrated scale

Wrappers with an integrated scale: Some wrappers can be equipped with a scale, allowing pallets to be weighed directly during the wrapping process, avoiding additional steps and optimizing logistics.

Wrappers for trolleys

There are versions designed for wrapping trolleys and platforms. Thanks to the automatic centering and locking system, the operator only needs to position the trolley: the machine wraps quickly and effortlessly, reducing time and material costs.

Wrappers with top press

Wrappers with a top press are machines equipped with a system that applies light pressure from above on the load. This feature is particularly useful when wrapping light, unstable, or irregularly shaped items, which might otherwise move or topple during the rotation of the platform.

The top press ensures that the pallet remains stable throughout the wrapping cycle, providing uniform and secure packaging. This helps prevent wrapping defects, film tears, or unstable loads.

In any case, for special requests or specific needs, it is always possible to make custom modifications and tailor-made solutions.

Wrapping programs

Pallet wrappers are available with 2 or 3 automatic programs, depending on the model. The operator only needs to select the desired program and press “start”: the machine completes the entire wrapping cycle and returns to the starting position. This makes the process repeatable, fast, and safe.

Difference in pre-stretch and braking systems

One of the most important aspects in choosing a wrapper also concerns the pre-stretch or film control system:

The pre-stretch system allows the stretch film to be tensioned before it is applied to the pallet. This function is essential because it optimizes film usage, wrapping the pallet in a stable and uniform manner, reducing waste, and improving load protection.

A good pre-stretch system ensures that the film stretches in a controlled way, adapting to the pallet’s size and weight without tearing or loosening. This results in material savings, greater safety during transport, and consistently precise wrapping, even with irregularly shaped pallets.

Types of pre-stretch

There are three main types of pre-stretch, which differ in terms of automation level and precision:

Mechanical pre-stretch

Achieved through motorized rollers or mechanical clutches.
The film is stretched before wrapping, providing a good balance between simplicity and reliability.
Typical of semi-automatic machines.

The film passes between two rollers that rotate at different speeds: the first feeds the film, and the second pulls it, achieving controlled elongation.

The pre-stretch ratio (e.g., 200%, 250%, etc.) is determined by the difference in speed of the two rollers and remains constant.

Pre-stretch with electromagnetic clutch

The film tension is electronically controlled and adjustable according to the selected program.
It ensures uniform and optimized wrapping, even for pallets of different weights or sizes.
Ideal for those seeking precision, material savings, and customizable programs.

Manual pre-stretch

  • The operator adjusts the film tension using a handwheel or manual clutch.
  • Suitable for low volumes or for those who do not require complex automation.
  • Provides direct control but requires more attention and effort from the operator.

In summary:

Pallet wrappers are not all the same: choosing the right model depends on the type of pallets, the number of pallets to wrap daily, the available space, and the desired features.

A targeted investment not only speeds up packaging operations but also reduces consumption, improves load safety, and optimizes management costs.
