Mechanical eyeletting machines: models and functioning
The mechanical eyeletting machines are facilities that allow the application of a printed cardboard on food packaging such as pasta, biscuits, hazelnuts and flour through the eyelets.
The card allows you to write batch, expiry, nutritional and content information without going to write directly on the envelope.
The graphics of the card are normally printed beforehand in typography and, subsequently, the manufacturer adds the latest data (expiry and production lot) using a marker.
The functioning of the manual eyeleting is based on the force applied by the operator through a lever or pedal.
Compared to pneumatic eyeleting machines, mechanical eyeleting machines are cheaper, but slower and require operator’s strength and precision.
The choice of the eyeliner depends therefore on hour production needed and on the quantity of eyelets to be applied (1 or 2).
The mechanical eyeleting can be of 3 types:
LEVER BENCH EYELETTING MACHINE:
One-head bench eyeletting machine with lever suitable for medium-low production; the eyelets are manually loaded into the side loader (approximately one handful at a time) and by operating the side knob the eyelets are sorted and oriented.
The operator will then have to place the bag on the clinching surface and force the lever to apply the eyelet. The procedure will be slower and less precise since the operator will have to hold the bag with one hand and operate the lever with the other.
1 MECHANICAL HEAD EYELETTING MACHINE:
One-head mechanical pedal eyeletting machine with stand for medium productions; also in this model there is a lateral automatic loader in which to insert the eyelets manually.
The operator have to place the bag on the clinching surface and act on the pedal to activate the descent of the head. In this case the procedure will be simpler and more precise having both hands free to position the bag.

2 MECHANICAL HEADS EYELETTING MACHINE:
Two-headed eyeletting machine with mechanical pedal with stand for medium production; the method of loading the eyelets is automatic and does not change compared to the two previous models.
As in the model with one mechanical pedal head, the operator must place the bag on the clinching surface and operate the heads with a pedal.
This machine is particularly suitable for large bags where it is necessary to apply two eyelets.
The distance of the heads is adjustable from 4 cm to 18 cm.
EYELETS AND OPTIONALS
The standard eyelets are of 3 types:
-type 7 in iron or brass with an internal diameter of 3 mm and an external diameter of 7;
-type 9 in iron or brass with an internal diameter of 3.5 mm and an external diameter of 9;
-type 051 in iron, brass or aluminum with internal diameter of 5.5 mm and external diameter of 9.5.
There are options such as the TEMPLATE and the adjustable shelf: the first allows for a more precise application of the eyelets, while the second facilitates the operator’s work by allowing him to place the bag and apply the eyelet with more precision.
Each eyeleting machine allows you to apply only one type of eyelets.
