Packaging test with vacuum and gas injection using FP FRM 1120 continuous band sealer

Customer requirement

A company specialized in the production of dog food needed to optimize its packaging process, improving the preservation of the finished product.

In particular, the request was for a system capable of:

  • performing a controlled vacuum phase
  • injecting technical gas for product preservation
  • securely sealing the final bag

The main objective was to find a single solution capable of ensuring efficiency, continuous production, and operational speed.

To meet the customer’s requirements, several solutions were evaluated, taking into consideration the production level and the need for automation.

1. Main solution: continuous band sealer with vacuum and gas injection

This solution allows:

  • vacuum + gas injection + sealing in a single cycle
  • continuous operation with bags inserted one after another
  • high production speed and reduced downtime

2. Alternative solution for medium-low production volumes

👉 Machine: ME 455/605 VAD pneumatic welding machine with vacuum and gas injection

This solution allows:

  • air extraction up to 80%
  • technical gas injection
  • processing one bag at a time
  • greater manual control of the process

3. Alternative solution: vacuum packaging machine

A traditional vacuum packaging machine was also evaluated, capable of performing vacuum, gas injection, and sealing operations.

However, this solution involves longer cycle times and a lower production capacity (approximately 1–2 bags at a time depending on the bag format).

Result and conclusions

The final solution chosen by the customer was the FP FRM 1120 WH continuous band sealer, which proved to be the most suitable option for production requirements and continuous operation.

The machine made it possible to:

  • significantly speed up the packaging process
  • reduce processing times
  • guarantee consistent vacuum and sealing quality
  • operate continuously without interruptions

The choice proved to be optimal from both a production and operational point of view, ensuring a high-quality final result.
